My 2 Foxes or the Shelby?
My 2 Foxes or the Shelby?
OK. I have posted this question a while ago. But since the Shelby has been out for a while and everyone has seen it a thousand times I thought I would ask again because I have this yearning for this car. Should I sell my 93 Cobra w/ 10k on it and my 93 Vert w/60k for the new Shelby? What would you do?

No doubt about that, but in terms of rarirty ("limited edition-ness" might be more apropriate) there were 5,000 '93 Cobras made compared to what I believe is 8,000 Shelby's per year. I just think the Shelbys are a little over-hyped, and I'm partial to foxes.
4993 Cobras were built to be exact!
I personally think the GT500 is waaaay over hyped.
I would take a Roush Stage 3 over the GT500 any day... but that's me
As for what you should do? Well I have a '91 GT and I wouldn't sell it for anything. I just restored it and I absolutely love that car.
You have a very rare cobra in GREAT condition. I wouldn't let that go ever... but again that's just me

That Cobra is beautiful!
If I had a Mustang that nice I wouldn't even think a selling it. I'd keep 'em both!

Considering what you have against what you'd be getting, i'd rather have your 2
any day of the week. Yes, the Shelbys are nice cars, but knowing I have a

5.0LX 'vert I'd stay with what I have.

I'm selling my '87 LX vert (75,000 miles) to get an '07 GT. I've owned the LX since 1989. (Although if I had room, I'd probably keep it.)

Bottom line, for a "toy" car, the Fox bodies are fine. But to me, for a real long distance, fun, reliable car, the choice was obvious. Let's be honest - these cars were already "old" in '87!

I'd have to disagree there.
I've had my 91 GT for 15 years. Bought it new and now have nearly 200k miles on it.
It's taken me from one end of the country to another. It has, hands-down, been the most reliable car I have ever driven.
In contrast my new '06 GT has ALL kinds of issues. Don't get me wrong, it's fast, fun, and looks great.
But.....
it's MUCH noisier than my '91 because the tranny whines and clunks (according to Ford this is normal)
the brake fluid leaks from the reservoir (according to Ford this isn't a problem) so each week I have to check and wipe the reservoir.
At some service stations I can't pump gas into the car (had this "fixed" still an issue)
The brakes started clicking and clacking after about 1000 miles (had it fixed thank God they DID fix ONE thing)
Now all of these things are relatively minor and I love my 06 and wouldn't get rid of it for the world. But as far as a car that I don't have to worry with the '91 was far and away MUCH more solid. I didn't have to do ANYTHING to that car for about ten years... just put gas and oil in and drive
