Maf Sensor question

Hey, I just wanted to get some input here on what options I have as far as getting a new MAF sensor for 1993 mustang gt. While I don't think my stock one is broken, I have noticed that my car idles high sometimes out of nowhere (like 2k rpm) and if I disconnect the maf sensor and restart the car (with it reconnected) it goes back to idling fine. I'm aware it could possibly be another problem but I have read that aftermarket maf sensors can give you a gain in hp, even if it isn't much. So I figured it might be a good investment if they aren't super expensive. I currently have a bbk cold air intake and 65 mm professional products throttle body installed.

I have the stock 19 lb injectors as well and I would prefer to keep them that size since I had to replace them when I bought the car. I also want to make sure that any new MAF sensor I get is C.A.R.B approved since california is strict with its emmision laws.

Thanks in advance

+1 and maybe check the idle speed control unit while you're at it. The maf wiring pigtail or connector has been known to fail too.

I haven't cleaned the maf sensor yet, I probably should do that first. As far as the idle speed control valve, I believe I got a new one of those but I can't remember. I know I have replaced the TPS so maybe I'll check on that as well.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll try this stuff out first before I buy a new maf sensor.
