Looking to buy new Fox Body Mustang

I currently own a weak 2.3L 89 LX. I've done some body mods to my likeing and now I want...no scratch that...NEED MORE POWER! I was hangin with my buddy and I found a weather beaten (what looks like) mustang GT in some guys back alley. Upon closer look it donned some Cobra emblems and sported factory cobra rims. I became excited quickly, I think I may have found the parts car I need to make my LX a monster. But obviously I couldn't get a chance to pop the hood and see if it's a real Cobra or just a GT with some Cobra mods. My question for you guys is what else can I look at on this car to find out if it truly is a real Cobra? Much help would be appreatiated. Thanks!

From a visual standpoint one of the best ways to identify, at least for me, a 1993 Cobra is the 4-lug disc brakes in the rear.

If you get to look at the VIN, look at the seventh letter/numeral...for ex. it might run- 1FACP42"X"....if the "X" is an S, it was originally a 4 cylinder, an E means a GT 5.0, and a D is the code for both the Cobra R and Cobra. Good luck finding a 5liter, they're fun cars!
