Ignition module
I think I need to replace the ignition module on my 91 LX. I saw on 50resto.com you need a special tool to remove it. Is this true or does anyone know of a trick to do it without spending 7 more bucks on a tool.
If were talking about the same thing, then no you dont need a special tool to remove it. The thing i took off was held on the distributor with two 7/32" bolts. This was on a 2.3. Just make sure you dont lose the dielectric grease that comes with ithe module, b/c that is used to keep it waterproof. Use a paper towel or something like that to get the old stuff off, and make sure it goes in nice and straight.
I looked at the tool and all it really is is a socket with a handle. If you can take the module off with a ratchet by all means do it!

The module is right behind the altenator attached to the chrome intake.
It is gray plastic about the size of an IBM card but thicker.
