Idling high

I have 93 mustang gt and right now my car idles around 1250-1600 rpm (usually 1500 rpm). I replaced the idle air control valve with no luck, so what else should I replace? I was thinking maybe the pcv valve but is there anything else I should check for?

It could be a couple things, and before I start replacing things right away I would check some things out first.

As you mentioned test the PCV, and vacuum.

Also be aware that it could be a TPS, or MAF sensor.

I am guessing there is no Check Engine Light on?

If so the above may be a possible culprit. When you look at the MAF sensor DO NOT touch the little wires, just inspect to see if they are dirty or coated with anything, especially on the air filter side. If they are first spray it off with some electronics cleaner until it looks normal/clean. Let it dry and pop it back in. If it fixes the problem then cool. If it is a TPS then I do not know what to do along with that. I would have a mechanic look at that since I heard you can really screw things up if you do it wrong.

Thanks for the reply, I will probably just have a mechanic look at it. Been trying to replace things on my own if possible because this car has been costing me quite a bit in repairs. I mean its old so it is expected but hopefully it is something small and inexpensive to fix.

Oh and there is no check engine light on, although in this case I wish there was so I could get a better idea of whats wrong.

Just because there in no check engine light means nothing it still could be throwing a code or two! If you coiuld get someone to check and see, mine was running very lean once with no check light and it stilll was throwing codes.... Just a thought.

Very True... I forgot to mention that I usually take it to Murrays to have the computer read, if I can not borrow my friends scanner tool.

BTW in case you did not know Murrays as most other Auto Parts stores offers this service free of charge!
