Sounds like you are not getting a signal from your ignition.

If you don't already have this link- its quite helpful in breaking down your wiring- http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/engine/#Diagrams . Where exactly did that fire originate? headlight/foglamp switch or ignition or somewhere else?

Well the only thing that makes me tell you this is the starter has nothing to do with the computer system. But the positive signal to the computer has the same reference. No fuel pump and ignition tells me your not getting a 12 volt signal.

I had a similar problem...got a new harness. The wires are very sensative when you start playing with them-just takes one to ground out or come loose

help

So you think its the ignition switch then?

I have had people tell me that it could have to do with the fact that this car is an auto and the harness came out of a stick. could that be it?

I can tell you that if I jump the selonoid I can get the car to turn over, but still no spark.

You need to get a circuit tester and check your ignition voltage source. You are not getting a 12 volt signal to your computer and solenoid. You are not getting signal from your switch. It may be as simple as a fuse or a cut wire, it could be the switch if it shorted out in the fire. Just do some testing. If I was near ya u would do it for ya.

Well if you have power inside then the switch is working. So you eliminate that. It sounds like there may be a plug not plugged in. Check all the connections by the brake booster. Follow the wire that activates the starter solenoid and make sure it is plugged in. Make sure that plug is not damaged. I am in Texas, you can call me if you need. 361-726-2969

The fuel pump us controlled by the computer. It sends a signal to the relay.

There is a key ignition switch where the key goes, then there is an ignition switch under the dash that sends power to the car. They are known for going out, in fact they were recalled on the late 80 models. Just use a test light with the key on and see where it goes. I will see if i can find my wiring diagrams to give you some direction.

Not really, there is a different pig tail at the tranny. Do you have a standard? Is it out of an auto? It may be the neutral safety switch, but that shouldn't keep it from priming the fuel pump.

well if you had an engine fire, you should have been able to save the harness for the tranny and just snap it in place. The same main harness, it is just the part of the harness that plugs in down near the transmission. You should have been able to plug yours right into the harness.
