Alright for anyone who reads this...

I have a 90 5.0 and this site says this car has 225 base hp but some car guys I talk to about it say that Ford probably put better pistons and other assorted things on this car. Does anyone know about what this car really has base hp or is 225 it???? Also there are some people i know who would enjoy racing me when I get my license (which I can't wait for any longer) and they are confident they will beat me (about 3 or 4 late 80s camaros and a newer one or two). So I'm looking for a way to get as close as possible to 300 horses without having to spend my entire life savings. I'm kind of thinking supercharger but I'd rather something else than that but any ideas at all would help. Thanks!!!!

Stock it should be 225hp. 5.0's in your year did come with forged pistons from the factory. If you really want to wake that car up, get a heads/cam/intake setup. Trick flow makes a great kit you can get through summit for about $2200. As much if not less as you'd spend on a supercharger. With that kit, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and a lil tweaking on a dyno or so, you should be around the 280rwhp mark or maybe more. Throw in a set of gears (3.55-3.73's) and some drag radials and i'd be will to bet the camaro's wont be much of a problem unless the later model ones are 97+ w/ an LS1... then your gonna need alot more work.

Hey hey,

No serious racing here, just a little fun maybe. Although I might scare them off if I get everything in it I want to. Oh well, if I do go, at least it was in a Mustang. (no one is going to like me for saying that) lol.

Race at the track. If you haven't gotten your license yet, you have a lot of experience to gain. I'd hate for you to lose control under that much power and hurt yourself or someone else.
