Headers/Exhaust Combos?
OK....I am currently running stock exhaust system on my 87 Mustang GT Hatchback except for Flowmaster 40-series. I am looking to gut this system and start over. What I would like to know is what peoples opinions are for the best system that will give me emissions legal (atleast high flow cats), best performance, and noticable but not obnoxious sound. I am looking at the complete system...i.e. headers, x or h pipe, high flow cats, etc..
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Rick. Glad to see you here. Emissions legal? In Alabama? No such thing.
I have some wicked 3 inch Mac Pro dumps I'd be glad to sell you. But they'll scare all of the women and children in your neighborhood. B)

What sort of mods, on your car? and what sort of sound are you looking for?
for a mustang its hard to beat that tinny sound of a flowmaster, IMO the best performing exhuast system would be a X-pipe and a resonator like a Dynomax bullet muffler (but the sound is raspy and kinda old school)

i would go with some mac longtubes with a mac pro chamber h pipe. I have that on my 88 hatch and I like it. I thought that they were going to be really loud but they are not. Theyre just right. Not too loud where ur heads pounding after 20 min of driving it but just the right tone to seperate the men from the boys.
