Does anyone out there know of a way to estimate - or otherwise come pretty close to guessing a cars HP after modifications? I know what the original factory specs say and I know what aftermarket components claim to add but is there a way - other than spending big bucks on a dynomometer?

get 300 horses and tie them to the bumper and get them to pull away from the car, shoot them one at a time and when the car manages to pull the horses, count up the ones that are left, there is your horsepower.

j/k Brian. The only sure fire way to work out HP is to dyno the car. You can always make estimates, but you have to remember that with age, cars can lose power anyway, compression drops slightly etc etc.

I agree with James, but not on the shooting horses part

You dont have to buy a dyno, you can take your car to one and pay for a small amount of runs. That will be better than any estimate.

Where are you located, i might can help you find a dyno shop close to your area.

I live near Cleveland Ohio. Know any dyno shops around there? How much does it cost to take a few runs? Does it mater which rear end i'm running? I've got the original 2.92 in now but plan to change to a 3.55 posi this winter.
How much would 300 Amish Horses cost?

There is Big Shot Dyno in Hudson, Ohio. I took my 89 5.0 there to get the supercharger tuned on it.

Dont know about shops in your area, but here we pay $60 for three pulls, or $80 for a full hour with wideband (some shops actually try to charge you extra for hooking the wideband up)

It doesnt matter what gears you are running.
