Pullied blower, 30x15 slicks and skinnies and a few small things and you will hit 10s, (a computer tune and a MAF and such. Sounds Sweet. 4.56 Gears and a solid rear with a 9 inch is your best bet. Hey Scott, MM&FF has a cobra that ran a 9 somethin on stock IRS and Stock 6 speed.

............... add 31 or 33 spline axles and c clips. and you are set. only the big dogs upgrade to a 9inch rear

Yeah, even some of the "vintage" guys are wanting to tap into using the 8.8 rear ends.

Yeah.. MM&FF has maybe shown one running a 9... but he wont do it to many times in a row. The IRS is not a piece that was designed to take hard abuse from heavy launching. I've seen guys break a half shaft on a street tire launch at the track and on the street.

I knew it could be done.. just not on a consistent basis.

Hi guys. I dont have a dedicated drag car, since I'm only a student trying to finish college. But when I have the opportunity I visit the track. My car is a nitrous injected 91 LX. For more info go to the link on my signature. Here is a pic a friend of my took at the track, the only day I tested with slicks. The car was having problems and only ran a 12.42 @ 110, but I'll be looking for better times soon

This is a friend's car. I think it is the fastest 306 mustnag in Puerto Rico. It has ran a best time of 9.32 @ 143 mph. And soon will be upgrading to a 347.

Scott, I broke my first and only halfshaft in Bowling Green at the NMRA finals in 03. :bang: I did the swap to a live axel just a couple months after that. I have no worries anymore about stuff in the rear breaking apart like I did when I drove with the IRS.
