Could my future car be worth much more than I'm paying?
Hello,
I've checked out the forums and didn't really find the information I was looking for. I am looking at and possibly wanting to buy a four-eyed fox. I've only looked once because my car is not sold yet but I am definitely planning on going back very soon. I haven't talked to anyone about it I just saw it and looked but it is red with a red interior, black convertible top, 5.0, 5-speed, and it is not a gt but it does say mustang glx on the left of the trunklid and someone on ebay has one and says it is RARE. I do know that whoever owns this car is asking 3K and would like to know, if given a little tlc, would be worth some more than that?? Thanks for any input!

Hi
I was just wondering EXACTLY what year it is? In 1982 there were 5828 Coupe GLX cars made and 9926 GLX Hatch backs. I am not sure how many were convertibles. If it is a 5.0 it should have a 2 barrel carb and make 157bhp @ 4200rpm and the compression ratio should be 8.3 : 1. 1982 was the year the Mustang "made it's return" performance wise. If the car has the 'TR' package (came w/ low pro michelin tires and matching wheels) it will be worth even more. But with low production numbers, the chance of a value increase is always higher.
I just found out the convertible came back in 1983. In that case there were 23,438 total convertibles made - still not sure of how many were GLX.

They've got a ton of info on the older gt's and the like.
GLX was a trim package, but I can't remember what it consisted of. Check the link and they tell all about them....

Don't you mean the metric TRX package which tires are impossible to find for?
