I need the correct timing advance for an '85 302.
All it has in the way of mods is a performer 289 intake & an edelbrock 600 cfm carb.
Thanks

Anyone?
it is marked with a dot at 10 & 14
Doesn't that seem a little high?

10 degrees is stock....14 is what we usually run for a performance tune provided there is no detonation.

yeah a carb, but I was looking at the Edelbrock EFI
I decided a carb is cooler looking anyway, and has much better performance
besides, I could plunk down 2k towards a paint job instead

I know you're gonna flame me, but what is CFI? central fuel injection?

no computer crap, it is junk. if you mod it the computer will make up for the mods and u wont get any performance gain from it.
CFI- Crappy version of Fuel Injection

The 86-93 motors were EFI, and were not CFI. The CFI was junk and mods had no effect on it, it is not easy to fix unless u change injection systems, Paul or someone else might be able to explain it, i hate it and never cared to find out how it worked.

cfi is central fuel injection, basically one fuel injector up top instead of eight individual port ones. to my knowledge CFI was only found on some '85 mustangs. 86-88 computers didn't respond to mods very well either because of speed density

CFI is throttle body injection and it contained 2 injectors around 50lb/hr or so(I know I'm a little off on that) on the V8's. CFI came on all 85 5.0 automatic equipped cars while the 5 speed got the Holley carb. It also came on other Ford V8's around that time...Mark VII, Thunderbird, etc. It also came on all the V6's as well. CFI is not worth trying to modify...very limited.
