So I have been debating on possibly trading my vert shell for a hardtop. But my ride is so complete and fully modded im not sure if possibly doing a conversion would be the cheaper route. I am a really experienced fabricator. So thats not a problem. The problem is I cant find anyone anywhere that had even attempted this.

My first thought is to find a wrecked coupe for a donar.
Option 2 is to use my rag top for a base to lay some fiberglass.
Option 3 is to fab one from scratch. I do have enough sheet metal already to do this. But it seems like this would be the hardest route.

1:So has anyone ever seen this done or can find pictures?
2: did they make the older capris in coupes or just notches?
3: also were there any ttop stangs or capris that were coupes?
4:any other opinions, suggestions, or info is more than welcome. My main goal is to get into a hard top and spend more time at the track.

I am first gonna post an add and see if I can find any hard top owner will to trade shells. Here is a list of mods on the car. Like I said I want to keep my motor unless the other trader already has a bad a** motor in it.

*=new or less than 1k miles

-Fresh paint*
-new top, pads, and rear glass window*
-weld draglites
-umi lift bars with welded in relocation brackets *
-kyb shocks and struts*
-tbox reinforcements*
-custom sub frame connectors*
-custom x bracing connectors*
-sway bar end links*
-front and rear brakes*
-custom driveshaft loop*
-custom rear diff cover* most likely will keep this item
-3:73 frpp rear gears*
-aftermarket tail lights*
-new head lights*
-badges*
-door handles*
-hinge pins*
-Most of the underneath has been cleaned and painted. Everything in front of the rear axle*
-removed quad shock because of the umi lift bars*
- the drive shaft and sway bar have been painted also*
-king cobra clutch*
-adjustable clutch cable, fire wall adjuster and 3 hook quadrant*
-summit brand shorty headers* may keep
-modified stock h pipe to remove cats.*
-10 series race mufflers dumped before axles *
-3 row aluminum radiator*
-msd system(box coil dizzy) I will probably keep depending on trader*
-holley adjustable fuel pressure reg* also depends on trader
-speedo cable and 3:73 calibrated gear*
-5" tac, vacuum, water gauges, wideband af gauge all in nice dash pod. I may keep these depending seller.*
-pro car racing buckets*
-replaced floor pan*
-new carpet*
-new door panels*
-short throw shifter*
-custom radio delete that holds 2 1/16" gauge*
-freshly reupholstered rear seats*
-grant gt steering wheel*
-painted dash, rear interior quarters, and center column*
-new little pueces that lines the top up when closing*

This car is also 100% rust free. It drives great but is super stiff via the suspension work done. But if your like me you are willing to sacrifice comfort for performance. And most of the nuts and bolts that were removed when working on her were replaced with grade 8 bolts.

I dont have a list or anything and did this off the top of my head. So im betting in missing tons of ****. I also have every receipt and instruction manual for every part I have purchased. The build folder is nearly 4" thick. Lol

But u can see why I would want to convert my car to hard top? I have tons of work in this already. And to do all that over again would be very pricey and probably way more work than a conversion. But I will see if I find a good trade before I do any cutting.

Be easier to find a 4 banger coupe cheap and swap your drive train and interior.

Been nice if some one made removeable hard tops for our cars like the SN's.

I've got 5 years worth of work in my roller. So im not so sure about easier?

Yeah that would be cool. Thats why I was also debating using my ragtop and laying plastic ir something over it. Then laying fiberglass on top. Then I would have a fiberglasd top the same exact shape as the soft top.
