Sorry Colvin....i didnt mean to get it so off topic....just sharing my opinion. The early foxes have truly been a hard to find car around here in western NY...bet they've all rotted out or been junked....or even moved to better weather. I've only seen a few around here, most of them being the later 4-eyed foxes (86) Even the 87-93s seem to be thinning out over time...but that was bound to happen anyways....All i see is those crummy 94-98, which i hate and the 99-04, which i love. Ill start seeing the 05's more and more too....which is

How do they not show their age....they scream 1980! The 80's style front end aero treatment, the crappy 14 inch wheels, the god awful ugly interior set up (the seats in some of the models are nice though), ugly colors, unpleasant dashboard.....what more do you want me to say?! To each their own, but these cars just dont do it for me!!

In defense....my 91 will probably look a bit dated too, but at least i updated it to look a bit more modern....which fits my taste. But hey, we all drive mustangs, so who cares...no matter what, we belong in the same stable!!!

.. you know what I can stand ... I can't stand when someone hacks up 89-93 foxes... rice it out and drive around with no rear bumper ... I can't stand a 2000 R hood on a fox ... imo, they don't fit the lines of the car .... but ya know, ... that's just my opinion.. to each his own.

Ouch! Riced out? How did you come up with that conclusion? And drive around with no rear bumper....sorry, the cars off the road! It sits in my driveway for now till June when i actually have time and money to enjoy it! You can hate my car!! I dont care! And you are right...im actually thinking about getting a different hood for my car because I'm not the biggest fan of it either... I can take criticism. Hey, if we are getting into it....the interior for my style car isnt great either. I'd take a 2005 interior anyday. They just dont make cars like they used to. Save the rice for my daily driver...a 1.6 stock civic that gets me around in $15 a week in gas! No aftermarket goodies on it too...like 6 inch pipes out the back.

Now, don't get me wrong ... there were a few things about your car I did like ... the shaved items were a nice touch, and the side skirts weren't that bad.... but overall your care just 'doesn't do it for me'

I just find it amusing that you would come into a thread bashing early foxes ... when I first saw your thread I didn't really care for the car, but I didn't come into your thread bashing it .. its disrespectful.

BTW, sorry for the hi-jack.

You can say what you want about my lights, but give me a break....whats wrong with my cowl? And since when would something like that be considered rice? I hate that f'n word and the way people throw that around. And if you gotta problem with my rims....go take another look.....they look very similar to the Cobra R's, so i guess you consider those rice too. And you have every right to come to my forum and bash my car, thats why its called a forum. People have the right to share their opinions there, like i was sharing my opinion in this forum. You can take it as 'bashing' but i felt i was just sharing my opinion. Just like you were for my car. I'm sorry that you dont like it. Im glad that at least you liked a few things!!

Thats another thing that gets me...this whole eurotaillight thing. Now true, many people dont like them on cars, including mine. I agree that many cars dont look good with them on. But would you consider the F150 lightning rice because of the lights? what about the equinox? AMERICAN car companies are beginning to introduce them into their models. Look, theres a million of trucks, SUVs, cars, and even vans (very interesting) out there with them on. If you dont like them, i dont know what to tell you. Im sure in a few years there will be something better and different out there that people will find better.

Please Don't take what I am about to say as bashing....I am going to point out why many people consider these items "rice" although probably not an accurate term. But also the reason I don't personally care for them....

The cowl....I don't care for it from an artistic/design point of view, why? because the curved lines in it do not match the car in any fashion or form...just like the '00 Cobra R hood...the 94 up cars have the more curved lines, a fox has more straight line and a boxy look....therefore the lines of the cowl and hood do not flow WITH the car....the work against it and are distracting and just don't "fit" the package.

The wheels....the only resemblence to a Cobra R wheel is that they are a 5 spoke wheel. The many lug holes make them look like an import tuner wheel(hence people's "rice" comment I think). I don't care for the rivets as those and the multiple center holes make it too "busy". Then the spokes of the wheel....they look too much like they come out past the outer edge of the wheel...making them look like a front wheel drive offset wheel. In my opinion a Muscle car should have a "beefy" looking wheel which means some form of dish no matter how small, the spokes protruding outward give a "weak/fwd" look which I don't care for. I am a huge fan of 5 spoke wheels but I like them clean and without the busy rivet look.

The term "rice" is thrown around a lot because it is the only way to express a strong Eastern/Japanese influence when it comes to style. There really isn't another phrase in our culture today that can express the same meaning....just like big mud tires and a lift kit are called "redneck".

I don't like the euro tails either. Just because they got installed on a lightning doesn't change that...I don't like them on those either. Just because American companies started using them doesn't change that I dislike them and never will. You want my example of a nice clean well done taillight? Look at the Mustang Cobra taillights for '99 and '01....they did the same to the 96-98 lights except they were used exclusively for export to Japan.

That is a clean look IMO.

On the projector headlights...I dislike those as well....again back to making the front end look to "busy"...it just clutters things up and is distracting. I like the clear headlights with the reflective/jeweled backing but not the projector style lights...they are severly out of place on a Fox or even SN95 Mustang.

With that said I think the reason you got the reaction you did and your own car & tastes targeted was because of the WAY in which you shared your opinion. The way you did that was antagonistic in nature by your own wording....as if you were attacking those who liked something other than you with your disbelief in how ANYONE could like those....honestly I expected the exchange above to take place after I read your first post. In the future I would suggest offering your opinion as a difference of opinion rather than a poking/prodding opinion which comes off as though something is wrong with others if they disagree with your outlook.

I don't care for some of the things on that guys car, but I like mustangs, and if I lived nearby and he needed help changing the starter or heads or intake, and asked for help, I'd help him.

I don't see how anyone can modify more than one Honda Civic, I did one, and it licked monkey hole, so I went back to what I like. But I can still appreciate it when someone actually modifies a civic and makes it fast(er than stock, well much faster).

If you don't like what someone has on their car, you are entitled to say so, and entitled to call them whatever you want, and their car whatever you want, but realize how that makes you look to other people reading the thread. I always think back to what mama always said, treat people like you want to be treated. I know it's just a internet forum, and we will never meet 99.9% of the people we talk to on here, but is it really worth it to get all frustrated and ticked off at someone you will never meet just because you or they said something that got to the other one?

Seriously, life is too good for crap like that.

My sentiments exactly.....and I don't think anyone here has gotten "ticked off" at anyone else. Everyone has opinions but it should be kept in mind that there is a way to express those opinions without degrading someone else.

I too have helped many people who have modifications that don't fit my personal tastes.....with that said I think there are different groups of people and attitudes out there....

For example....I have great respect for anyone who hotrods, modifies, or otherwise improves their car...provided they have a good attitude. A poor attitude gets no respect. Back in the day so to speak when the 87 5.0's were new there was the SAME attitude expressed by many of the (at the time) "5.0 punks" that many of the "ricer" guys express today....it's not a good attitude and not conducive to promoting a healthy hobby. A hot rodder is just that...no matter what make...but attitude displayed makes all the difference in the world

the cowl is a scoop mounted on the cowl section and i dont like the lights ethier.
something like that be considered rice? I think the lights are too rice as is the cowl, but otherwise i like it.
and, those "crappy 14 inch wheels" are actually 15 inch turbines and look nice.

PS-i just wanted to comment and say SVOPAUL does real nice work
