Booster Vacuum
Booster Vacuum
I have been done with my cobra brake conversion for a month or so. Bled the MC on the bench and did an initial bleed of the entire system. Started the car yesterday and let it run about 10 minutes or so. When I pushed on the pedal it was really soft. So couple questions. How long does vacuum take to build in the booster? Does anyone else with the M-2300-K kit have similar pedal feel? Thanks guys and gals.
Like stated still could be air bound, air can get trapped in different areas of the system and be a pia to get out. may need a pressure bleed if really stubborn. you upgraded the booster iirc.
Skunk I upgraded it all according to the ford racing kit per the part numbers listed on the install instructions. The initial bleed on the system was done the traditional pedal pump 2 person method. I am going to break out my mityvac vacuum bleeder this weekend and see what happens. I know I got what I thought was a good bleed the first time, but I'm sure with the extensive amount of new parts there can be air. How is your pedal feel compared to stock? Similar?
OK Skunk21 I checked the bleed with my wife and only got 1 bubble out of the driver rear caliper on the 2nd bleed. The bubble was right away upon cracking the screw. Here is the weird part to me. Pedal firm when car is off. Start the car and the pedal is soft till it bottoms out. All the parts including booster are referenced off of the ford racing system. Maybe I am just psyching myself out as I have not been able to actually get it on the road. Pedal just seems super soft with vacuum on the system. Any ideas? Other question. With the proportioning valve is it best to bleed with that all the way in (max brake) or all the way out (less brake)?

If you are still having soft creeping epdal issues then there is either still air in the system or the MC is suspect ( it happens).
OK I'll check it out. I hope the MC isn't junk as it was a new unit, can't remember if it was a rebuilt or not. I'll check the box. My bleeding was done with the prop valve in the initial adjust position so maybe it wasn't pulling its full potential on the bleed.
Well bled the system again and took it for a little drive. Pedal feels great. I think my head was playing tricks. Thanks everyone. Getting the alignment tomorrow and maybe I'll throw up some pics.
