Most likely because that's where the most load on the engine is. I would do a compression and leak down test.

How many miles? Sounds like the valve seals are leaking down a bit....

I bought the car after they put a 351/427 in it it only had 4000 on it when I bought it. It now has 7000 the guy only put 4000 over 5 yrs. When I picked it up did not notice any thing wrong. A week after I had it carb was leaking gas out of screws and bolts noticed the smoke and now the fuel pump won't turn on. So I have it at a shop today to take care of all the issues. My fingers are crossed that its only seals and gaskets are dry but my luck ill have to rebuild.

Do the leak down much better test. could be a seal or a ring issue. I hope the best but keep us posted.

Well all I can say is a got took . Now for all the curse words ....... This is my first carb car never been around any it was advertised as a world product 351/427 hardcore stroker man o war.450hp536tq Windsor Sr aluminum heads 1050 dominator carb high flow single plane intake manifold. So i noticed blue smoke took it in to get looked at. I can't remember what was said about the blue smoke other than it needs to be honed . The reason I don't remember is because , it does not have a 1050 carb does not have high flow intake does not have Windsor Sr aluminum heads . Does have world product motor but it could be a 302 . Guy also said that its no where near 450 HP . So I'm not a happy camper . I contacted world product but there record do not go that far back. I'm trying to call guy who sold me the car to find out if he took that stuff off car just forgot to tell me I mean lied to me. Well I guess mostly my fault should have done just a little more investigating. But car is in good shape steeda suspension tko600 trans . Just a bum motor . I payed 9500 for car another 2000 and motor won't smoke and will find out how many ci it has . Not happy happy . After I talk to guy who sold me car ill let you guys know what I found out .

WOW!! that really sucks. I would be pissed myself. keep us posted. A tape measure would made a quick check of the block to tell if it was a 351 vs 302 if you couldn't get to the casting numbers easy. sorry for the crap you have to go through, hopefully the PO makes good.

Well new chapter. Going to pull motor. Msd box blow up. Melted a spark plug boot, and blow up 4 spark plugs. They are now on top of pistons. So when its out ill find out what I have fix the problems and maybe just maybe do a little somthing extra. A fellow mustang guy that builds strokers is willing to pull and fix . And not charging to let me help. Is charging 200 to pull and diagnos then just charging time. So a better price than the engine shops and I get an education on my car. I'll post when more info comes

So in just a couple more hrs car will be on a trailer heading to the shop. Very nerves to find out what motor is in it. Then get to buy some go fast parts no matter what size the motor is.
