Biggest tire size???

Ive got an 87 hatchback GT and was wondering what the biggest tire was that i can fit on the rear. They will be mounted on 15x8 weld draglites with 5.5" backspacing. The car is not tubbed or anything. I did remove the quad shocks but that is all i have done! I dont know if im going to run a drag radial or a full slick yet so input on both would be a big help!

For a gt...being on the safe side is a 10.5 x 26 x 15... I personally got 11.50 x 28 to fit on my gt but spent hours with a hammer smashing out the inner wheel wells... you will have to do a tiny bit of

rolling/ beating if I remeber...have fun! Its worth the work

Ive done some beating on the inner and i just ordered a lipping tool so hopefully i can run a descent size time! I hoping a 275/60-15 et street radial will fit when im done. What 28/11.5 did you get to fit?

So you beat the inner fender and lipped the outer and you dont have any rubbing issues? Even when turning?

I mean I wouldn't reccommend drivingthe 11.50s on a daily basis but its "doable"... bump and dips are scary...but yeah you beat the inner wells in and roll the fender lips up into the fender. A buddy of mine put two lakewood air bags in, one on each side to raise the car up. Kinda ghetto but he still turns tens with his novi 2000

That would work! Ive got granatelli upper and lower control arms on mine and with the lowers you can adjust the ride height so i can just raise the rear end up a bit. Im definately wantin to run a 28 on it.

I have put 295's on my 86 with some rubbing at speed and hitting a small hills. But for the most part most people run 75's with no real prob!
