Are you looking for HP and torque gains, or just acceleration? Rear gears is probably the cheapest way to make your car quicker. If HP is what you want, a nice set of headers and an O/R H pipe would be a good bet.

A bottle of NOS, a Rebel Flag and a six-pack of Coors.

You'll be invincible.

IMO NOS is jsut a cheap way to gain HP. Go with headers/exhaust, then you've got the HP for real.

it is cheap, thats why it is the best adn easiest way to gain HP. but it does take some patience to get setup and make sure you are doing right.. half way do it and you can blow your motor quick.

Its real hp though, my car went from 279rwhp on the dyno to 350rwhp and 428rwtq... its defintely real.

But a lot of people go ahead and NOS their cars, but forget to uprate the running gear, the brakes on a standard GT will not have as much stopping power as on a Cobra (I think), also, suspension set-ups are different to allow for the extra hp's

Definately nitrous best bang for the buck. If it were me I would save up a little. Put 3.73 gear, headers, off road hpipe, cat back. Then put nitrous on it.

Presume you mean for your 1993 Cobra. A Cobra has most of the mods SVO would recommend for folks with standard 5.0L Mustangs.(intake, heads, rockers, 24lb injectors,etc.etc.) Only exception would be to replace the four cat system with the SVO bolt-on offroad exhaust. And of course install a K&N oversized cone filter or similar other brand. I do not know what gears a 1993 Cobra had-3.55? 3.23? 3.73 or similar will increase acceleration considerably(and decrease gas mileage). That about expends the $600.00

Underdrive pulleys also help once you have freed up the engine and increased the power band.

How many miles on the engine? And what type of cylinder pressures do you have? Any blow back through the valve seals? Need to know the health of your motor if considering NOS as an option.

How fast do you wish to go?

I would also seriously look at some chassis stiffining, sub frames connectors, and strut braces do a world of difference for these cars! Plus they are realitively cheap.

4.10 gears and a Bassani Exhaust including a X-pipe with High Flow cats or an OFF road X pipe depeneding on whether or not you want to be emmisions legal. Long Tube Headers and a full cat back and Perf mufflers. Nitrous is great until u end up going through 3 bottles per day.

Cam
Headers
SCT flash or chip
Intake Manifold
GT40-P heads

I'm thinking depending on your current combo, one or several of these could be a lot of bang for the buck.
