I just bought a 88 GT with Paxton SC kit. It has a blown head gasket (I think) and I will be tearing it down. I am looking for a proven combination of parts that will give ~ 350 RWHP on (with no boost) and handle ~ 15# of boost. If you know of a build like this please let me know.

Glenn, if you are planning on keeping the blower on it, it would be best to build a motor tailored to that. (i.e. lower compression and a blower specific cam. I would like to do the same for my Saleen, (need the free time) and plan on going with a long block setup for one of the engine suppliers in MM&FF when I'm ready. I think if you gives a call to most of them, they can recommend a good setup.

Thanks Mr-mstng. I am considering a crate engine but I am also considering building what I have because it already has some forged parts, ARP bolts and studs, roller rocker/tappets, and aluminum heads.

Found it on auto trader. Guy was asking $10,000 obo but it had an issue (I think blown head gasket but still driving) I offered $6500 cash, loaded it on the trailer and took it home.

I would go with a stroker for that kind of rwhp, esp. considering it needs to be low compression...I'd go with a 331, AFR 185's, good cam, and at least a Performer RPM, 1 3/4" long tubes, etc....

I've got a number of builds we have done....too many to list here but the easiest was this one(my own '88 LX that I sold last March).
Balanced 302 bottom end(stock rods/pistons)
ATI Harmonic Balancer
Lunati blower grind camshaft
GT-40 P heads with light port work(heads were O ringed for loc wire gaskets)
ARP head studs
1.6 roller rockers
FRPP P specific shorty headers
GT 40 Intake manifold w/ 1" phenolic spacer
Accufab 70mm Throttle body and spacer
36lb injectors (NO FMU)
A9L mass air computer(NO CHIP or tuning to it)
C&L 73mm MAF meter
Vortech S trim supercharger
This was through an Art Carr prepped AOD with low gear set & 9" 4000 stall converter
8.8 Rear with Moser axles(31 spline) and 3.55 gears
Exhaust was a 3" prochamber to 3" MAC catback
2.55 lph fuel pump in tank with Vortech T Rex external pump...STOCK fuel lines
Air fuel ratio was perfect
10 degrees of timing(YES TEN!!!)
Power to the rear wheels on a DynoJet Dyno was 413 HP & 496 ft. lbs Torque
More power was available but the guy I sold it to had never owned a performance car like this so I put the idiot proof tune on it which is why the timing was set at 10 degrees![Wink](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Nothing exotic in this setup and it worked well.

Do you work at a shop, why have you built so many? How much boost were you running with your build? What is the purpose of the intake spacer (mine has one also)? I am in Bham, if you are interested in helping.

Happy to help you out where I can...stop by sometime if you like, we are always working on something. I've got finished cars in the showroom and at least working on 10 different cars right now from a 65 Fastback, 68 coupe,84 GT Turbo Convertible, 93 Cobra, 95 GT, 87 Tbird, 95 Tbird, 95 Mark VIII. We do everything from concours restorations to modern hot rods

On the combo above I was running 14lbs of boost. The phenolic spacer does 2 things, it increase the intake runner length and helps keep the upper intake cooler by seperating it from the hot lower intake...the phenolic material does not transfer heat like aluminum does.
