airbag warning light

the airbag warning light in my 1992 5.0 LX started flashing a "code 13" - heard it may be the clockspring, but my horn still works. don't know and don't care if the cruise control still works, but that light bothers me. question, does anybody know where the possible ground fault could be in the system as far as the crash sensors are concerned - can they even be repaired/replaced? TIA. also have the black paint and electrical tape ready should this prove more trouble than it's worth.

You can also try removing the impact sensors up front and cleaning the back side and reinstall...ground could be lost there. I've seen some people install stainless core support covers and when they bolt the sensors back on they lose the ground signal....not sure if you've done that but just dirt and corrosion could cause the same problem. Just something else to check..

Thanks, I'll try that when I get the chance. Are there 3 forward sensors? I see the ones behind the headlights, but IIRC, is there another one near the bumper? When attempting this, the battery should be disconnected, right? I will do that anyway, but want to make sure.
I've come to understand there are no new replacement clocksprings - OEM or otherwise... and they are model year-specific, so when that part fails, guess it means most owners of Fox 'Stangs equipped w/SRS are SOL .

There are 3 sensors on the front of the car....one behind each headlight and one in the middle....then there is one sensor located inside the quarter panel behind the driver door. Yes, make sure the battery is disconnected...although they should not go off but it pays to be safe anyway.

There are year differences among some parts but not for EACH year so with a Fox you just have to look at the Ford part number and make sure it is compatible. For example....the '94 Mustang has different parts than the 95-98 Mustangs when it comes to airbag parts....so something was changed and '94 stands on it's own according to the numbers. I have never tried to interchange those as I didn't want to risk it. Fox numbers "should" be the same from 90-92 but I don't have something to reference nearby...I do have a '93 Airbag sitting here on my desk and it has a '93 part number which suggests something changed for that year.
