Ok, sorry I don't have pictures, we kind of saw this car last minute and I didn't have my camera. Anyway, my little brother is thinking of buying a '90 GT as his first car. The one we saw had 150k miles on it. The owner still drives it daily. There is some surface rust but nothign crazy. It is white and the body is strait but it needs a paint job. There are a lot of chips in the paint. The only mods are flowmaster exhaust and cold air intake. There is however a small exhaust leak coming from the passenger side manifold. Also, there is a 6" crack in the windsheild. It's a five speed transmission and it is a hatch not a coupe. The guy is asking $1500 but I think he will take $1200 or so. What do you guys think?

Sounds like a good deal. Might be worth taking it to a reputable mechanic though to give it a once over to see if an major repairs will be needed soon, this way you know if he'll need to sink money into it right away.

Personally if it was me buying the car I'd keep looking. The milage is too high for my taste and it has too many issues. Just my 2 cents.....

Well, I would consider this... how long does your brother plan on keeping the car. Its more than possible to take a 5.0 close to the 200,000 range but you never know with other owners and how they have treated the car before you. Kind of a risky situation to me. If you were just getting it so mess around with than yea sure. But if you are getting the car for realibility than I would take another look. But than again, its only $1200. GO FOR IT

I would say go for it as well. 150k on a 5.0 is nothing. If it does go out on you they are relatively cheap to rebuild or replace. I know SEVERAL people that have fox's with more miles than that and they beat the crap out of them religiously. That is the good thing about stangs, you beat the crap out of them, and they keep coming back for more. Also $1200 is DIRT cheap for a 5.0 fox unless it has MAJOR issues. The same car if is hasnt been wrecked and the issues were fixed could easily go for $3500 or more.

That being said, please let your little brother know that even a stock 5.0 can be a very dangerous car if not respected. The combination of the power and torque they have plus the ability for the rear end to brake loose in a heartbeat honestly doesnt make them a very beginner friendly car in my opinion. Before I get flamed by a bunch of the kids on here, let me say that I am not saying a young driver cant handle a 5.0. What I am saying that they are in fact more dangerous than say a 4 clyinder accord, and in fact if you do not respect the power that they can put down it very well can come back to haunt you. Look at a bunch of 5.0s out there, and see how many of them have been wrecked.

I'm one of those kids with a 5.0 fox, and he is right. They're definitely a handful, even in the best weather. I had about 4 years exp. before i bought mine (learners license included), and id say that would be the youngest youd wanna get one. Like Joker said, things happen in a heartbeat in a 5.0.

I have had a liscense for 12 years, bought my first mustang about 6 or 7 years ago, and the fox 5.0s can still scare the crap out of me in the rain, simply because I know from expierience how fast things can go wrong. A good set of tires will help this, but not alot when it comes to rain. Dont get me wrong, they can be driven just fine in the rain, but one bad judgement can make things go bad terribly quick
