89 vert tire size

I just replaced the rear shocks and springs on my 89 convertible because it was sagging badly in the rear end. The new suspension raised their rear of the car approx 3 inches. The stock 225 60 15 tires on the turbine wheels are too small now. My question is, what is the biggest tire I can go with on these stock 7 inch wide 4 lug rims from Ford to fill this gap without making modifications?

Wow, three inches is a lot . . . I guess it was sagging badly! I think I'd drive around a bit and go over some big bumps and hope it settles down, LOL . . .

You can look up tires on Tire Rack and check the "specs" tab to see the recommended rim width. Off the top of my head, I think 225 or 235 is about the widest that would be recommended for a 7" wide wheel.

You can look up the full tire size and check the outer diameter also; start by looking up your current tires as a baseline. Then you can look at other sizes like 235/70-15? and check the overall diameter. To close up that gap, you want tires that are at least an inch taller than your current tires. That's getting to be a pretty big sidewall and a tall tire so I'm not sure what you are going to find.

I know this probably isn't what you had in mind, and it will cost more, but the better solution might be to get bigger wheels (both diameter and width) and bigger tires to go on them.
