68 gt need help w/ rear rim size

68 gt need help w/ rear rim size

what is the widest rim that will filt on the rear w/ the stock rear end

and how wide of a tire should go on that rim the car is running a stock ride hight

Not that this really answers your question but I run 15x7 Magnum 500 rims on my 1969 and considered 15x8 (I think they would work just as well). I personally didn't want to run wider rims/tires because I felt it ruined the classic mustang look having super wide tires (of course that changes if you got the motor to prove the need for fat tires I suppose).

I am running 225/60-R15 tires and that's about the widest I can fit in the front without rubbing the fenders when turning. Options are to roll the inner fenders to gain clearance or run different size tires up front and in the rear which I didn't want to do because I wanted to be able to do a full 4-tire rotation. I am sure you could go to a 235/60-R15 in the back.

The wheel/tire combo I used kept me pretty close to the stock wheel/tire diameter. You can measure what your stock diameter is and then choose a wheel diameter / tire size that matches.
