In the U.S. they made a Cobra in 79,80 and then '93....however in Canada they were labeled "Cobra" but were just GT's with a decal and 180km speedo. I owned an '85 Cobra that I bought from the original owner some years back. It is really nothing special really...likely just a Canadian GT. It is a conversation piece though if you live in the U.S.

It's also a conversation piece to the educated few in Canada.

Yes, this is only on Canadian cars....and the ONLY difference from a US GT is the decal and speedometer. I have never heard the "official" reasoning behind this but that's the way they did it.

Wasn't it so Ford wouldn't lose the "Cobra" copywright?

I've heard that but not from any official source....but think about it, they didn't use the Mach 1 name for much longer so I'm not sure how much truth there is in that idea....??

Does anyone have a pic of one? I've always heard about them and would be curious to see the "decal".
