Theres a speedshop in town (western motorsports wmsracing.com) and theyre selling 5.4s from wrecked Lincoln Navigators for about $3,000 cdn with low mileage. Seems like itd be a good way to go for a project. Does anyone know how hard it is to do?
Sites down right now and i cant remember the specifics.

I've seen it done, i met a guy who owns the company that made this popular, he has a 96 GT with cobra emblems and a cobra bumper, its white, it was featured in MM&FF awhile back. Either way, its best to start off with a mod motor car, so a 96-04 car would be best, the 05's 3 valve is probably almost as good of a motor because this guy with the 96 had a navigator motor and a Vortech (Q trim i believe, but not sure) and a 4r70w and slicks and skinnies and he only wan 12.30s and ran a best (at a dif track) of 11.70

to give you an idea, the 4.6 is to the 5.4 as the 302 is to the 351W, basically the same just taller, if i remember right, this guy had a 96 cobra intake and a non-fucntional shaker along with a 2 1/2 inch cowl hood, and everything fit fine.

'96-'98 mod motors are not good for anything (no offense to any 96-98 owners)
Personally I think push-rod motors belong in a fox but a 5.4 would be alright since it makes more natural torque due to slight increase in displacement. Plus you get all those fancy high-tech looking engine parts that are sure fun to work on... if you even have room to work under the hood on a 5.4...
