No, you cannot use the transmission that was behind the 4 cylinder. Do your homework as there is a lot to change to install that engine and make it work. Not difficult to do but it's not a weekend project. You will also have to change the rear end.

Okay heres the deal... I own a 1994 mustang V6. I've currently bought a 1985 y/m 351 windsor V8 motor with the C6 transmission. What kinda hassle is it to put that motor and tranny in my V6 mustang and do I have to use C6 transmission or can I use the factor transmission that came with my car? Thanks for your help in this matter!!

Well, I'll try and give an answer based on the little I know. your V6 is a 3.8L which from my knowledge is a shortened 5.0, essentially. I am inclined to beleive the transmission would physically bolt up to the 351.

I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem to get it all in there, but the whole making it run right bit might be odd. There's alot of V8 parphenalia that you'll need to get to convert it. You'd either have to find all the stuff to put a EFI 5.8 in and put it on that older 351, or convert the car to a carb setup.

Something tells me your plan here isn't all that easy or trouble free.

I'm sure the more advanced and mechanically inclined members will give you better answers when they get the chance.

Okay well thanks. My plan are to go with the carb setup and not fuel injection. But I will keep asking around and get more knowledge on the subject. Thanks!!
