331 stroke?

Hey guys... My tax return is almost here and my engine is pulled.... My ? Is i would like to stroke to a 331 and use what i have on the motor now till i can continue to upgrade... Gt40 heads upper lower 75mm throttle body and 24lb injectors/ mass air..... Would she run fine for now or would she be starving to much? I know 30 lb injectors would be better but can i get away with it for now untill i have the money to uppgrade to 30lb?

Why the 331 and not the 347? Just wondering. I decided to go ahead with the 347 when I did mine simply because it's like a motorcycle. If you get something smaller it's only a matter of months before your already wanting to upgrade plus with the 347 I just feel it gives you more more for upgrades which would then give you more time with it. If you went with the 331 and did your upgrades and then decided to go with something bigger you would have to do it all over again...

Again just my thoughts but I am also not sure what your finances are to work with.

The 331 has a better ring pack design than the 347. "Most" of the 347 kits, have the wrist pin in the same location as the oil control ring. Because of that a 331 has longer longevity. Besides 16 cubic inches isn't gonna make that big a difference in power.

I think you'll be fine for a while. You won't get the most out of it with the injectors, but with a conservative tune, you could get by.

I like the rod angle of the 331 over the 347 and the longevity .... Looking for 400 hp in the long run out of my 302 block and with the 331 400hp is easy to get no need to go with the 347..what i need to now ive got 24 lb injectors and and 75mm mass will it run for now without hurting anything... Money isnt the object its time of work to do the project... Lol... Just figured id put the motor back in with the lower done and upgrade upper later... If it would run that way....

400HP is stretching it for 24# injectors. You may want to up them to 30#

It may not hurt it, but you'll want to have a conservative tune.

The xtra cubes makes a big difference.

To help clam your worries ( it seems you need some more research) I would call Rick @ RNH 717- 343- 2108 or Woody @ Fordstrokers a call 630-462-3978. 2 great engine builders I know that will help out with your goals.
