Help

The release button on my shifter will not push in so I can't get the car out of park!

Actually, I am using a vise to push the the button in hard enough to release the shifter.

How do I fix this thing? :bang:

I have never had a Mustang with an Auto but most Auto cars have an interlock with the brake pedal, to make sure you have the brake on before you can shift from Park. I have seen the link for this come apart. Have you checked this?

never had that problem. the pre 94 mustangs didnt have the safety switch on the brake pedal to get them out of park. atleast my 86, 89, and 90 didnt. i believe there is a set screw at the base of the handle. try takeing it loose and try to adjust the handle. there is a spring inside that might have gotten caught, or broken. also try like a haynes or chilton's manual. see if they say anything
