1986 GT exhaust suggestions

i'm looking for some minor exhaut modifications for my fox, i would like to put some borla mufflers on it to replace my 40 series flowmasters, but i would also like some suggestions on a new set of shorty headers. i would also like to look into upgrading my intake also. i'm pretty much open to any suggestions

Are the cats gone? If not get rid of them or hollow them out.
Those years clog up easy.

I have had JBA and BBK shortie headers along with a non-catted H-pipe and Flowmasters. I don't think I've heard Borla's on a 5.0, but think they'd sound good.

don't gut the cats unless you want a tinny, horrible sound, or at least run pipes through the hollowed out cat if you go that route. for as cheap as off road pipes are you might as well buy a new one which will be a 1/4 inch bigger diameter than the stock pipes and won't be rusted to hell

I love my loud obnoxious crazy catless exhaust. Every fox should have one!

i have mac headers, prochamber and catback on m 92. and it sounds good. borla or some of the more expensive companies might have a better sound. but its good for the price.

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT buy the reproduction dash pad....trust me! When they first came available I ordered one in to see how it was and was severly disappointed....so much that I refuse to sell them through my shop because I know anyone that orders one would be disappointed with it. The plastic coverlay dash caps look better than the repro pads...the repro pad weighs in at 15lbs!!! and if you hold it in the center the two ends will droop down...also the quality is awful...looks like they molded it from a wavy dead fish.

You've been warned

The company that makes them for everyone out there(there is ONLY one company making it so don't let a salesman lie to you) knows there is a problem but they have said as long as people buy them, they will not change it. I was shocked to see this quality come from them because their pads for the older Mustangs are nice.

Are you keeping it the same color or are you going custom? I'm looking forward to your updates and pics!

it's gonna be the original two toned white and charcoal, i was pushing for a black(non metalic) sense i think it goes with the red interior better, but it's my dad's call

Should look nice. My 84 looked worse when I started on it.

For some reason I always loved the look of 79-86s with low front air dams, I like the one on yours, but it might look better if it blended with the bumper better

I also like the front skirt! And as much as I love racing stripes , I'd keep the same kinda stripe/blackout it has now!

if we dont get the stripes then we are gonna have that blackout painted on instead of a decal to keep it from cracking

well i just i got new idea for the paint job that will hopefully look really good while being some thing diffrent from most fox bodys
