Need to know if your car is a 6 or 8 cyl. Two different rear ends with each car. Best way to tell is to look at the diff. If it has studs and nuts around the front of the rear, then its an 8". If it has bolts around the back of the diff, then its the weaker 7 1/4" weaker rear end.

Its 289...and how do you tell the difference between studs and bolts? Are the nuts what I'm looking for?

A bolt will have no threads showing above the head. A stud will have a nut on it and have threads showing. Either way, if the attachment points are in the front, its an 8"/9" if they are in the rear, then its the smaller 7 1/4".
