So yours is a bond on scoop and not a full 'glass?
This is correct. Now, I don't have specifics of HOW it was done... But that is an original Mustang hood... and I purchased the scoop from... NPD I think... I got pics of the hood and the scoop before it was put together... so I can prove they were apart at one point. :P

What I think they did was, cut a hole in the hood, and then inserted the scoop from the back into the hole... then they fiberglassed up to the scoop and smoothed it all out, and then fiberglassed the back really good (that's pretty obvious) and then primered it...

It's got the rigidity of a steel hood, with the scoop... They don't make bolt on '67 Shelby scoops, or at least not when I did it.

Same here, but I installed mine myself. I got a product called Dynaweld that was reccomended to me by Len at www.autobodystore.com. It's specifically designed for attaching fiberglass to steel. Easy to use and I'm really happy with the results. I sure hope it doesn't crack, but for $80 for the original hood (that already had a hole cut for the scoop), and about $40 for the bond-on scoop, I couldn't beat that price with a stick. I wouldn't necessarily call the job easy, but I do think that anyone with some time and patience (and elbow grease and sandpaper) could do it.

All kidding aside, the stripes on the hood look good. I have been wondering what my hood would look like with stripes

You should not be scrapin' if you go 2" down. You'll just get the car to handle like it deserves those stripes

Whose 1" drop springs? What weight are they rated at? You have a 289 in there? How much weight did you pull off the front end? Aluminum intake, water pump, etc? Are the rear springs mideyes? 5 leafs?

You'll have to block to rear (easy). The front will take some more work depending on what you have there.

EDIT: Does not look as high here, but you should be able to pull it down so it sits just above the tire, or even tuck them without any major road hassles.

IMO, you could use a bigger set of rims as well, what are you running, 15"?? a a6 or 17" would look pretty sweet, even a chrome deep dish, but meh, as long as the meats get it down to the ground...

They are 15"'s... Could I get bigger rims and not have to drop it? I mean when you guys are talkin' about droppin' it, are you concerned with the tire to wheel well look, or are you concerned with the height of car to the ground look?

Usually the gap between fender and tire. If you drop it then add larger wheels you won't have to worry about ground clearance.

Though adding bigger rims and tires would do the same thing as dropping though, wouldn't it?

No because your suspension height would still be the same if not worse because of the smaller sidewall height of the tire.

Yes and no. You can add larger wheels but depending on the profile of the tire you may or may not close that gap.

My suggestion to lower it was not only cosmetic but functional. When you get these puppies lower they start to handle much better.

:nono: the thread was hijacked a long time ago. Perhaps a new thread would be appropriate for Rich to get feedback about lowering his car.

How ironic! I'm looking at those pictures, saying "woahh.. that looks A LOT like my home town, Corona ca."

I check his avatar, AND HE IS FROM HERE TOO. I haven't seen that car around (no surprise), but my girlfriend says she has!
What a small world.
