I liked this idea more in theory than in execution, as it happens, now that I see the real deal....just too much scoop for a 65-66 It's a close decision , and not terrible by ANY means....just a *smidge* (or is that a bridge?) too far. Maybe? Am I off? Again?

What say ye?

Anyway, that hood "works" on a 65/66 coupe if you ask me, but not on a fastback aka 2+2.

It's a different look - gotta give him credit for that.

I just don't care for the Bullitt rims, especially combined with that hood and the chrome "add-ons" - rocker moldings, emblems, and bumper guards. Shave that stuff off and go with a flat hood, and it would have a modern GT look. ...or, change the rims and go retro.

Just my .02. YMMV.

Interesting. I thought it worked pretty well together. I kind of like the chrome with black.

I think it looks pretty great!

Arguably the best looking hood scoop on one of the best body styles. I think the only real issue you have to contend with is the Ford lettering and hood pins competing with each other. The hood would look alot cleaner without either.

On a side note, though I rarely disagree with Bob, those wheels really make the car in my opinion.

Have to ditch the rocker moldings too, then the wheels and hood choice start to work together.

not leading anywhere...thought it was good thread material. Tracy has done a wonderful job on that car and he asked for opinions, albeit on another forum

I think it looks good together, but i wouldn't have picked it for my car. I don't even care for what I have on mine rt now(it came with the car), I think that a cowl induction or flat hood works best for me. But this car, it just works. Would've never thought the Bullits would work, either, but they do!!!

here's a pic of mine, btw,it's got a 351W in it so it needs the extra room

I think its a 'smidgen' too much but, really, on the border. I think maybe eliminating the middle ridge/support might give it a cleaner look rather than the nostril look.

He's not the first to do it...

I did it about a year and a half ago, I just didn't ***** my pictures out looking for comments back... *grrrrr*

The stripes make the hood.. the black really doesn't do it for me.

and my stripes line up, unlike some sorta Mustang fastback that was recently on TV made by some idiot and his posse of idiots. :P (and the stripes on the valances were done AFTER the car was painted... they were not on the car when it was striped and painted... how's THAT for accurate??)

I agree, the stripes make it look a whole lot better. On Tracy's it looks too big, one yours the stripes help to reduce the visual size. Nice...

There we go - much better! Rich - I was beginning to think you didn't like us any more. :nono:

BTW, all my parts were striped completely off the car. We actually painted solid blue first, then masked the stripes and painted white. It's actually a minor miracle that it all lined up as well as it did! :worship:

Thanks guys... there are those few who feel that stripes on a coupe is just uuuuugly... I on the other hand think they add some splash to an otherwise dull car...

Yeah, we painted white, then masked for the blue. We felt we'd have less of a chance of the white not totally covering the blue if we did it that way...(in case of bleed through) On the other hand, we had a lot more to mask off as well.

I don't understand the problems that a couple of those guys were havin' with the hoods cracking either. I had an all metal hood, and the scoop and a shop put them together for me... (that job wasn't one I was willing to tackle)

I got everything put together, finished and primered for paint for $400. A pretty good deal I'd say... I got the hood for $100 and the scoop for $150... so all the work, ready to install for $650... Their hoods are going for $359+$50 box fee + $70-100 shipping... And they might still have to do work to get theirs the way they wanted it.. AND it's all fiberglass... so it could easily cave in and just not be as strong as mine...

I like it, at least on this car. I've thought about getting one of these scoops for my '65, but mounting it backwards like a cowl induction hood. Then I could fab up an adapter to feed the air filter. Why not ram air? I don't really want to clutter up my engine compartment with huge hoses. And I've also seen first hand the benefits of pulling cold air into the engine. Why not cowl induction? Don't really want to put a chevy design on my stang. Thing I don't know is how it would look. What do you guys think?
