What color should i paint my pony??

Body is almost done on my 66 coupe and its going into paint soon. Been dancing around a few colors (red, dark grey, silver and black), but I'm having a hard time deciding. I would love suggestions from you guys and I would love to see your ponies!! Thanks!!

Nothing beats a classic white Mustang.

I've thought about it, but might be a little too showy/contemporary.

I am a huge fan of anything dark green!

But I would say it depends on what you want the car to say?

All options are great! But they say different things...

Red - Look at me, guess what I am, EXACTLY! a sporty car!
Black - I'm trying to be subtly amazing. I'm counting on my details to make me stand out, not my color.
Dark Grey - The modern version of black. This is the color you put on any old car to make it look newer.

Any choice will be a good one! It just depends on what you want... EVERY day!

My dream color... Off-white or Dark green with Champagne stripes and wheels.

I have always had simple rules on color:

1. Paint it the original color
2. Paint it AN original color
3. Paint it red.

What, like having a beautifully restored (I assume that's where you're headed, anyway) '66 Mustang running around isn't showy? And do you see that many Emberglo '66 Mustangs running around? So definitely not contemporary.

I repeat...

Dooooo...

Iiiittt.....

Of course, if it were me, I'd do this. Figure out how to get them to mix up paint so it goes on like Metalspecks from Duplicolor. I'd paint the car satin black, then spray on the semi-candy Metalspecks, then I'd candy the hell out of it red and orange with maybe a little yello candy coat, then clear it. OMG sex. Seriously. I'm fixin' to do my motorcycle wheels with the black/metalspecks/hella clear coating, and the test run I did... I can totally see adding the bright orangy red candy on top of that black/metalspecks being awesome and a half.

You can dang sure bet THAT won't be contemporary... or cheap, but hey, what is life but a once around the block experience, so have a lot of experiences!

/Just the satin black and the Metalspecks, with clear, comes out a charcoal/argent mixed silvery made of win color. I can't wait for them wheels to be done.
//But first... Garage 'ceiling' must be completed Tomorrows.

Grey is overused. A lot of old and newer cars are painted that color. For the purists, paint it original. For guys like me, a bit of flash is good. I like new colors on old cars. The next suit my car might get is a satin color like red or even denim. There are plenty of cool paint schemes and colors, don't be afraid to try one, if you're not a purist.

One of my junk.

If you look at the pictures of my car you can tell I am kind of patriotic and flashy. Blue, white le mans stripes, coke red pin stripes = classy.

'66 had some good colors. I second the Emberglo suggestion and Dark Moss Green looks good too. Another color I really like is Nightmist Blue. I sorely wish modern Mustangs offered a blue like that but they all tend to either be too light and/or too purply.

I did my 66 GT350 clone black with gold metal-flake stripes, if your body is straight it will look killer black.

I'm highly biased, partial to blues, but... that black jade or whatever that slightly green metallic black they had around in 69-70 was a really cool color, we had a goofy station wagon in that color, even it looked great... think if you have a black vinyl top/interior, it would be really cool.

heres a example- in real life the color goes more from black to extremely dark green with goldish metallic...really need to see it, pics dont do it justice: http://www.vanguardmotorsales.com/In...5/Default.aspx

when my father and I restored our 68 fastback, we decided on jaguar platinum silver. the flake is really fine so it has an almost satin look to it, and the shadows play with the body curves really well... compliments everywhere it goes.
