Standing in the store, flipping thru the magazines while the wife shops... Pick up a copy of "Mustang Enthusiast" magazine. Hmmm, interesting sounding article about "lighting upgrades" on page 84. Flip to it, and there's MY car. They photoshopped the headlight to the "on" position.

Weird! Anybody else seen that magazine? They did give a tiny photo credit to Jerry Heasley, but this is NOT the article he was working on last month.

It's this picture, except the headlight is "on".

I'll be going to Barnes & Noble this weekend to do my monthly magazine shopping.

In case you haven't seen the July Mustang & Fords (Terlingua car on the cover) - my car has a 3-page feature as the centerfold there.
(You can see it on my webpage if you don't want to drop the $3.95 )

Very cool! I'll pick up a copy. Did you ever has aspirations of making your car a "cover car", or did it happen by chance? Did the magazine ask for your opinion of pictures they had taken of where you surprised once the final spread was complete?

It was just a matter of being "in the right place at the right time". I was at the "Pony Trails" during the Tulsa Shelby meet last year, when Jeff Ford saw the car. A real 65 Shelby & I got to "playing" around & attracted his attention.

Jeff asked Jerry Heasley to photgraph the car. I purchased a CD of the photographs from Jerry, but had NO idea which photographs would be used or what the article would say...

It took a year to get published. I kept getting emails about the article, but others had their magazines for 1-1/2 weeks before I ever found a copy. Overall, I'm VERY pleased - Jerry did a great job - I never even knew that I gave him all the info that's in the article... I think he actually used my webpage to gather some of it.

Just to clarify - mine's not on the cover - the Dallas Mustangs "Terlingua car" is - I'm just "the centerfold".

Hey CV, You want an autograph or something???

BTW, that quote was just clarifying the question asked above "Did you ever has aspirations of making your car a "cover car", "

Weird. I guess that the photos become the property of the photographer, though I know that a human model would have to sign a release to the photographer for the photos to be used for anything other than the initial pictorial. Just consider it a compliment, and another good magazine credit for cloney. Looks like you'll have to keep your eyes peeled for the next few years. I wouldn't be surprised if you found another pic or two in the future.

I hope I didn't offend you with my question. I was just asking becuase I have met people who's main goal is to build their car for a magazine. "I want my car in 5.0, MM&FF, etc." I was just curious.

If I mail you the Self Address Stamp Evelope will you autograph the magazine?! :P

NO offense taken at all... I guess I should explain that CantedValve & I just saw each other over the weekend, so we tend to mess with each other a bit! Several of the guys gave me grief last weekend when I actually had a couple autograph requests.

I just wanted to make sure that you knew that mine wasn't actually the "cover car". BTW, to answer your question, NO, it wasn't a main goal at all. I built this car to enjoy! Now, I will say that I've always hoped that "someday" I'd have a magazine quality car, but it wasn't the main driving force or anything. Drop me a PM if you want one "autographed". My signature will probably ruin any future value the magazine might have though!

Send full ones - I'll return them empty (and autographed)!

I don't care at all if they use pics of my car. If fact, I like seeing it in multiple places. Not that it matters, but they never asked to sign sign ANY sort of release. I've had a BUNCH of email (since they gave my webpage), and even had a guy track down my phone # to call and ask about the paint code - he's building a T-bolt replica and wants "Kelvinator White"!
