which type of lifter

Im rebuilding a 302. i was looking at summit racing and there are 4 types of lifters. Hydraulic flat tappet, hydraulic roller, mechanical flat tappet, and mechanical roller. What is the difference? Which type is the best and which type should i get?

Depends what motor you have. What year? Does it have hydraulic flat or roller in it? And what do you plan on doing with the car?

hydralic flat tappet will be your stock replacement type and will be the easiest to go with .. all others are steps up in performance and require additional work and accompianing hardware ..
