Trying to Identify a transmission

so I've got a deal with my dad...He has a '78 ford pickup that was all built up for off-roading...it has a 460 bored .080 and a four-speed....it was a pretty bad truck back in its day...but it has since been rotting outside next to our house for the last 5 years...he wont let me have the motor... He's giving it to my uncle for drag racing, but he'll give me the transmission if I can convince him that it will fit my car and motor... So this truck is a 4X4, but I figure I can just scew the transfer case and take the four-speed. the only numbers I could find were C 96391...I think its the casting number...I did a google search and didnt find any help...It IS NOT the stock tranny...the truck was an original auto...so any help would be appreciated! I need to shift my '65!!

ok...well I'm trying to reason how this transmission could fit...so I'm thinking...what kind of automatic transmission was put on the cars Ford put 460ci motors in...was it a C6? EDIT: yes...'75 continental came with 460/C6 combo. So I guess the question would then be, would a C6 fit on my 289? And if it does...we have deduced that whatever 4 peed tranny he has will fit my 289 becuase if the C6 fits on both, why wouldn't this one....I need some help on this folks...this is purely speculation, and I dont know if anything I said was fact or not

EDIT: It seems that the C6 was developed for big blocks...Wikipedia....but I would think as long as I had the right bellhousing, it would work?

Edit#2: It appears that I have found it..it is a New Process 435. These were put into pickups and Broncos...Seems it has a CRAzy Gear ratio...a 6.69:1 unsynchronized first gear...See this guys Jeep build...hey...he's hooking it up to a 302!! I still need help though guys!

I do not think that the transmission will work it, if it is bolted on to your dads 460 right now it has the wrong bolt pattern on the bell housing, ford did use smallblocks linked to c6's in ford vans, hope this helped
