Hey all started up my car today for the first time since late Oct. Has been unseasonably warm in Wi. lately. Anyways let the car run for about 20 min and moved the car around in the driveway a bit, backing and going forward. I noticed that on the tarp under the stang, there was quite a bit of tranny fluid that has leaked out over the past few months. What is the best way to stop this leak? I've never had to deal with a tranny leak before.

C4 trannies are notorious for shifter seal leaks. Cheap part but you have to drop the valve body to get to it. Might also be the drain pan bolts have loosened and it is seeping around the seal. Might be a good time to change the tranny fluid and filter to see if it will help.

I'd like to know more about this shifter seal leak. My C4 leaks horribly but only when the drive shaft is turning. On advice I've relpaced the tail shaft seal twice with no improvment. The leak is obviously comming right down the hollow of the yoke so I'm ready to replace it thinking the splines are worn.

There is a bushing in the tailshaft that you'll need to replace. At one time I believe that you could buy them with the rear seal in a kit.

I know this is no kind of technical help, but every C4 I've ever run across has leaked like crazy. As long as you keep fluid in 'em they run fine. Just like a Harley, they don't leak, they "mark their territory".
