Tire size question

Dose anyone know what the biggest size tire that will fit on a 66 mustang with a 15x8 that has 4.5 in of b.s. Im thinking a 255/60/15 but wanted something a little bigger like a 275/50/15. Oh this is for the rear. Thanks for any help.

I had a 66 with 16x8's with a 4.5 b/s and that was all it could handle. I had to roll the fenders pretty good too. I think I have a picture somewhere. Let's see...

Here it is. They were 245 x 50

Becareful .... the problem I had when I added my 17s is that they rubbed on the fenders during freeway speeds when you drive on US highways where the roads are not level. I had to shave parts of the fender on the inside ... my oversight. But now everything is okay :-)
