Let's hear the ideas here for the Suspension and Steering on this build.

NOTE: Wheels/Tires and Brakes will have their own category.

Fatman front is need for a little shock tower trimming, and the availability of late-model Cobra brakes from the engine donor... Better add $2500 for airbags. What good is a speedster if it's not LOW when parked!

Let's try and figure out what the total cost on the Cobra IRS swap, Air bags front and rear, with the Fatman Fab conversion will cost us. It's going to be tough... suddenly $60k does not seem like much

IRS kit is $1200 with SA Koni's. Figure $1000 without them... IRS itself is out of the donor...
Airbags will run $2500 F & R with compressor. $3000 if you go DELUXE.
Fatman - $3000 with everything? - and we wouldn't need the struts.

why not go with the RRS strut front kit and their rack and pinion as well? to me that would be better than using an escort rack.

he is working on getting the cnc machined stuff worked out right now for production, should have a working prototype by the end of the month and produstion should hopefully start within another month, possibly before x-mas in time to get an ad out there somwhere, last i heard MDJAY from mustang depot was talking to Gram seriously about selling the kit and advertising it on the site.

the RRS kit is the way to go on this build in my opinion, kind of keeping up with the latest technology in the street rod world, the fat man kit has been done but the RRS kit hasn't YET!!! the RRS kit also looks better built and you don't have a custom LCA to worry about either, or an escosrt rack, i really don't think an escort rack is well suited to a pro touring car either, pro-bagger ok, but not pro-tourer. the RRS kit's also have different options on brakes and struts too, they are all coilover as far i know so that is a good thing. we can also get one of their shock tower kits at the same time and the linear travel rack looks trick as heck.

one thing as far as brakes go, we will probably have to adapt the hydroboost from the donor since a regular vacuum brake won't clear the valve covers. one thing that nobody mentioned in the engine section was an injected cleveland, that would give us clearance for the booster, i'll go mention it in the engine section in a bit.

bryan-
can you price out the RRS for me? Provide a link to pricing? Budget is getting very tight. I want to close the steering and suspension ASAP so we can see what's left for paint and interior etc.

EDIT: Got their site: http://www.rrs-online.com/index.htm

My concern with RRS is the cost. About $4,500 for the Phase 3 kit, then $1,950 for the R&P, then another $195 for the notching kit.

So it's RRS = $6,645
And FMF = $4,028

That's alot of paint
