Striping on my 66
This is my firts post on the Mustang Source forum, but I'm not new here because I watch the forum allmost everyday for the last year.
Now I want to make stripes on my 66 coupe to make ik look more sporty but I don't know what color i have to choose, so maybe someone here can help me out, or has some examples.
This is my car for almost a year now,

and I'd like to haven the 3 stripe configuration, like: ||| ||||||| ||| that.
Grtz,
Hans

Are you talking about over-the-top LeMans stripes or rocker panel GT stripes? Somehow I'm not seeing the LeMans style looking very at home on your car. To be honest, in a few years I think the un-striped Mustang will be the one to stand out!
IMO, as previously said, stripes are going through a fad. By the time you get them, chances are you ll change your mind. If not, and you still really want stripes, have someone on the forum do a photochop of different colours to see what it would look like. Hope for the best.
Dude, do what suits you!! IMO, white or black would look good on that color. But, if I was you, I'd seriously think about it for a while. Her's another stripe style that looks good on that great bodystyle. BTW, I've gona and lost my Shelby stripe(Le Mans) spec. pic, again. John
if that gold was a lil birghter (maybe just the pic?) i'd suggest red stripes. i saw a gold/red 95 GT two tone once, i swear those two colors are made for eachother... of course i am a bit biased
Honestly like others have pointed out I don't think stripes would bring the car up like you want to. Here's what I suggest to make it "racier"... in all honesty you gotta lose the rocker mouldings, that's the first step to updating it. After that a big set of 17" polished wheels would work wonders on that car. Finally, and this is more work but I think two toning the car by doing the entire top surface of the car (meaning the hood, roof, and decklid) in a super shiny and deep black would take that car to a whole new level. And then you'd also be able to lose the vinyl top.
Lot of work but you'd have a very nice/modern/unique car then.

Tough base color to work from. I can only think of one car in a similar color that I've seen with stripes...

I'd recommend keeping it simple. Maybe just the Terlingua-style stripe down the center in an off-white / light tan?

Really interesting pic, Cloney. Where'd you find it?
But as for LeMans stripes on a gold, otherwise-original hardtop - I'm justr not seeing it (nor the need for it). Sometimes a coupe should just remain a coupe and be proud of it. Not every vintage Mustang needs to have the Shelby treatment or huge rims. I say, ditch those simulated wheel covers and get some genuine Styled Steels and maybe some GT fog lamps in the grille. That oughta scratch your itch for a performance look, but keep you from looking like a wannabe.

The car is owned by "Jerry Shelby" (no relation) from Texas. Very clean car, 351W, Baers, etc. I've met him the last couple years at Tulsa, and we were across the aisle from each other at the 40th...

Mustangclub, I would not put stripes on your car. As several have suggested a nice 17" wheel/tire combination, GT fogs, and a shelby hood like the one GT350Clone posted would do it for a start.
GT350Clone, do you have info on where I can find out the exact color of the gold stripes used for GT350H's?
I've never seen a paint code published anywhere for the Hertz Gold. Everybody just buys the Gold powder from Branda - mix with clear, and you're good to go...
