Squeaky Brakes
Just a ? for you guys. I took out my car for the first time this spring
Man I need to get out of Wi. Anyways I noticed that the brakes had a bit of noise to them. There was no noise anytime I used the car last fall after I bought it. Just wondering if after sitting for 6 mo. that this is spmething I should expect???? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

May have something to do with the fact that the car wasn't used for some time and the disc pads may be rusted a bit especially if they are metallic pads.....may just have to change them, and make sure the car doesn't stay out in a humid environment when stored for a long period of time...just my .02 cents...
So tonight I drove my car and all was going well.....As I was finishing my drive the brakes started squeaking again pretty bad. After I would brake and accelerate I could still hear a squeak. So I started getting concerned. Also the brake pedal felt as if there wasn't much give to it. I had no problem stopping but felt like it didn't feel right. (This is my first old car, and I'm not too educated in the mechanics of them) Anyways I parked the car in my driveway and shut the car off. I noticed a clear liquid seeping in between the two front wheels. Thought that was weird and I'd call my mechanic in the morn...... I then tried to start the car and bring it into the garage. It started not as easy as normal after a long drive but I got it going none the less. Put the car into drive to pull in......NOTHING......What the heck. The car wont budge. I shut the car off, and put into neutral to get into the garage it wont move. A guy came over to help me push nothing.....won't move. I waited 10 min and started the car and moved into the garage. It kinda chugged into the garage, the engine dying once.....Whats going on with my car????? It seems like the brakes locked up???? A few people told me tonight it might be the tranny.....But the car was shifting and running fine the whole day???? Not sure what it is but want some insight before I call my mechanic.....
Is your parking break set???? It may be set, and you are just driving though it. That would account for no play in the pedal, and the squeeking as you drive. It probably runs bad because it is trying to override through the parking break and getting bogged down. And that is why you cant push it when its in neutral. That doesnt answer the not starting question though...you may have a bad silaniod, or maybe the connections ore loose there...I trust that you would be able to figure this out if it were true, but it really sounds like the P break to me. And if its the first time you've had it out, you may have forgotten you set it if you did.
No problem with the parking brake...Went to check out the car today. Yesterday I wasn't able to move the car when the car wasn't running and the car was in neutral. Today I was able to move the car just fine, any ideas as to what might be going on??? Also when the car was wacky yesterday there wasn't any pressure on the brake pedal. Today there was pressure. I'm sure the problem has something to do with the brakes, but what i'm not sure????
If you have disk, maybe the pistons are stuck int the depressed postion. if they are, pry them loos like you are going to change the pads, and then bleed the lines. this might free up the pedal.
