I know a person that had(has) a 65-66 coupe. I'm not sure if they still have it, but they hit a semi at 50 and he only had lap belts. His head hit the steering column and broke his jaw in 2 places, messed up his throat, and fractured 2 vertebrae in his neck.

That is bad :-\

I'm glad the II at least has shoulder belts, but thats still not enough, especially for the go I have planned for it. Makes me worry a bit for my buddy Luke and his 66. its going to be pretty fast when he sticks that motor back in.

Why don't you stay home and go to school by correspondence course? or save up for a V-8 where you can get out of your own way? I know a man that was run over by a garbage truck in a '67 coupe. He saw it coming and laid down in the seat. The roof was crushed in and everyone thought he was dead but he walked away without a scratch. Good thing he was wearing his brown pants! kennyg

My brother has a '68 Cougar and one thing that always concerned me when riding in it is the safety of the lap belts and low-back bucket seats. I would really like to see this guy and my brother get high-back seats and a good restraint system.

A '68 Cougar should have factory shoulder harnesses, he could install '69 low back seats with head rests and use the same upholstery. kennyg

The Cougars didn't have shoulder harnesses until '69. I didn't know that they made low back bucket seats in '69.
