My Fuel gauge on my '65 (three guage cluster) has been retarded ever since I bought it 4 years ago. I've been ok with it for this long, but since my restoration is complete now, this guage it the only thing that is wrong with it. All it does is not read to its "full" potential. Every time I fill up, it only registers a little over 3/4 tank, and then as I use the gas, it dips way below E, and I have to guess how much I have left....cause after 125 miles or so, the guage says I'm empty, but I know I'm not. Is there any way to fix this?

You will have to determine if it is the gauge or the sender. The service manual should have the resistance/voltage readings for both. I suspect it is the sender.

Probably the sender. Your float may be "bent" and not going to the top of the gas level.

If you ground out the sender, the gauge should peg at full.

and if it doesn't, I have a bent float? Or do I have a bad sender?

The aftermarket sending units need to have the float arm bent to match the originals. If the guy before you replaced the sending unit, he may not have known you had to do that. I replaced one on my Dads 67 and had the same problem. I found out after the fact I needed to do that. So if your gauge checks good, take out the sending unit and bend the wire arm.
