I have a 67 ford with a 200ci block and a c-4 3-speed auto

I was wondering if I could buy a late model stang auto trans from either a 6 or 8 and have it bolt up to the 200ci??

I was told the bolt paterns on the block were different but what about the bell housing????

Help anyone.

Thanks, Nick

You can update to the AOD. The swap will run you the cost of the transmission and the conversion parts. For a about the sam eprice, you can swap to a manual trans. Any auto trans more modern than the AOD will not work.

I don't believe that any late model AOD or transmission from a V8 will bolt up to that 200. The 250 inline 6 cyl has the same bolt pattern as the V8 for the bellhousing but the 170 and 200 do not.

It will not work, the bolt patterns are totally different, why do you want to do this anyway, the c-4 is a solid tranny ?

I just want a 4th gear. It's not in a Stang its in a fairlane I love to work the 200 and don't wanna V8 and doing 60-65 I'm hitting 3000rpm I wanna get that down to like 2100-2300. so I can get more top end speed. I also would like a little more speed on take-off. even with about 200hp from the engine its still a little slugish off the line. I mean its a lot better than the stock 120hp but I feel a tranny and rear swap would be the next best thing.
