This add is from ebay. It is a scam. But I was wondering if anyone has seen this car for sale? usually, these cars are taken from other adds and then listed on ebay buy someone else. You know the story...

Please let me know if anyone has seen this car for sale. Thanks

The first clue is that the auction is restricted, second, the seller wants you to email him/her at an address other than ebay, third, the car is probably worth at least $18K, if not closer to upper 20's.

If you email them, they will tell you the car is in europe and to wire $3000K first then they will ship the car to you.

Trust me on this

There is no doubting it is all the same car and info cut and pasted into the ebay add and for a ridiculous asking price, but are you saying then that somone waited patiently as a member for 6 years, building up a 100% rating just to make this score? Or have they figured out a way to make fake profiles now too?

I am not sure about this one ,but I do know one thing for sure, user I.D.'s have been hijacked from ebay. That may be why they want you to email them at the address listed.

Also, the wording in the auction is suspect. Very general description. No specifics, and the grammar isn't particularly good, in addition to what was mentioned above, I'd bet money its a scam with a hijacked user ID.

I wonder how close I came to falling for something like this. If I did not stumble across the car I have now, I was going to buy one off ebay. I'm really glad I bought the car I have now.

These kind of scams are fairly easy to spot. Here is the reply from him.

"Hello,

Thank you for contacting me about the 1968 Mustang Fastback 302 with only 92
miles put on it after restoration, excelent condition (vin# 8R02J16545). I am
very sorry i couldn't reply you sooner but i wasn't at home. Please excuse
me for that!
The car is located in Athens,Greece and I will ship it from here. I'm a
serious seller, and i will close this deal only in a secure way through Ebay
so we both are protected. The car is still US registered, the title is clear
so you will not have to pay any custom taxes and also won't have any
problems registering it in US. Car is in perfect condition both mechanically
and cosmetically. No damage,no scratches or dents, no hidden defects, and it
is as advertised. It has very little usage. For most of its life, it's been
parked in the garage. Very powerful, very fast and very smooth. The price is
$9000us with shipping and insurance included.
Please let me know if you want to buy this car, and I will email you more
info about this deal.

Regards!"

I am going to email him back and see how he replys

I would definitely call BS on that one. From Greece, shipping and all related costs would be in the range probably of $4-5000......on a car that would bring well over $20 in said condition.....definitely a scam.

I was not aware that people could hijack a user ID for an auction like that....

rofl... on that email he sent you. I got the exact same email save for it saying that the car is currently located in London England. My email was a little bit more generalized though. It didn't mention the car name in his little paragraph thingy and it kept calling a 1999 mustang a "classic"

ebay took it down.

you can sometimes have a tough time finding one that runs for that price on ebay.

So I am curious, did you contact him thru the email he listed or the one thru ebay? I am curious why he would want to do it thru the "secure ebay" so to speak, don't they usually use money orders or western union in the scams? Anyway glad this freak got stopped, I honetly don't know where people get the ***** for stuff like this, I guess if you don't live in this country you have little to fear, but man I would so have to be looking over my shoulder every minute if I tried stuff like this.

THIS GUY HAS SENT ME SOME REALLY GOOD FAKE EMAIL THAT LOOKS LIKE IT IS FROM EBAY ASKING ME TO TRANSFER $9000 THRU WESTERN UNION. PRETTY CLEVER I MUST SAY. I WISH I COULD POST THEM. HERE IS HIS LAST EMAIL TO ME:

"Hello,
I have contacted ebay and made the arrangements with them. You should receive further details from them. All you have to do is to follow eBay steps and in 5 days our transaction will be closed. From what i know you can't send more then $5,000 once with western union so you will have to fill out 2 forms and send 2 transfers for $4,500. Also be sure to have enough cash to pay the fees. If you have any other question don't hesitate to ask.
Thank you"

That's great, can't wait to see if this bozo starts ignoring you now or what. If he does reply with some type of exscuse, try milking him instead, lol. Tell him that you want to be able to right off a a larger laon amount so can he send you $2,000 first and then you will send him back $11,000. Or tell him the Escrow company has an office in Greece and they would like to inspect the car prior to okaying the loan.

Here was his response:

Ebay does not recommend western union but in this case they accepted cause i have the deposit made into their accounts and if something will go wrong you will receive the full refund from my deposit. If you are making a transaction and pay through western union and the other member won't send the item they won't be able to refund anything but is not the case here.

My final responce and never heard back from him:

Come on guy...I am done playing with you. I know mustangs and I know this car sold for $28K not long ago. It is easy to spot these Ebay scams. Just having some fun with you. Get a job...
