Due to my wife's health issue the seats in my '67 convertible are not comfortable enough for road trips so I am thinking about replacing the front seats. I either heard or read where certain year Taurus/Mustang's seats will fit nicely but I can not remember where I saw that. I'm not a big fan of this idea but I can always change the seats back....

With warm weather coming quickly I would like to investagate my options so any help would be appreciated. By the way, GREAT site Brad!

Thanks for joining, and nice car! I've seen first gen Mustangs with 1994+ GT seats in them, but I don't know how much work is required. (And I've sat in more comfortable seats at McDonald's.) I'm curious about the answer to your question too, as I'd like a '67 fastback with 2001 Bullitt seats.

We need to replace the seats in our 97 GT, having problems finding a set. Any hints where we can go?

If you cruise some personal sites of guys with restomods, they have taken late-model seats and reattached the seat rails from the original seats...in most cases its relatively simple and no outrageous fabrication is needed. I'll try to dig up some of those sites.....

I originally had seats from an 87 Mustang in my 66. It was a simple swap of the 66 seat tracks to the 87 seats (IIRC I used 2 existing holes and drilled 2 new ones in the seat base). The problem with these seats was that the seat base was much taller and I sat too high (I'm 6'1" ). I now have 2001 Mustang seats. These were a little trickier to install as the bottom of the seat base is not flat, and the drivers and passengers seat base bottoms are different. I fab'd up some spacers/adapters and used my original 66 tracks. The seat bases are not as tall as the 87s and fit the car much better

this is an older pic of my interior with the 01 seats

I was thinking the same thing . I've got the car, now I just need to find some seats. I think the 05 ones would look nice as well, but I've never sat in them to see what they are like.

http://www.procarbyscat.com/procarrally02.html also has some seats for classic cars that will bolt in your mustang. I've seen a 65 fastback with them and it looked nice.

i have 86 gt buckets in my 69 coupe. just like gp said i used two of the existing holes and drilled two new ones so i could use the original 69 tracks. i didn't notice any difference in seat height myself but i'm only 5'11" so it probably wouldn't have been a big deal to me anyway. but i can tell you they are much more comfortable the 69 seats. i don't think i've ever sat in the newer seats for any length of time to compare them with the 86's though
