I have never had to deal with trouble taking the power steering assembly out. Mine came out without too much of a problem. My only advise is to use an air impact gun and a lot of WD-40. To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to get inside the frame rail other than to cut it open. As for the drop down, CJ Pony Parts sells them for a fairly good price that just bolts right in as a replacement. Good Luck!
