Octane booster
anyone have any experience with octanium from VP Racing fuels? I have a 68 with a 428cj. It runs good but think it would run better if I could find some ethanol free gas which is hard to come by in my area. Used to always run the Lucas oil booster with ethanol free 91 octane. Looking to try something different for some better performance and to counterattack the ethanol and lack of lead

What specifically is the problem you are trying to address?
Higher octane does not lead to greater performance, all other variables remaining constant. The ONLY reason some modern engines post higher outputs with higher octane fuel is because the timing can be adjusted on the fly. I get the feeling your cobra jet isn't doing that...
Higher octane won't reduce the effect of ethanol, either.

Starting a bit harder than it used to. It is bone stock with no hardened valve seats. It has always been finicky on gas. Really needs to be running on closer to 100 octane. Main difference is the are I used to live in had some stations with ethanol free.

Well, ethanol has a much higher octane rating than pump gas, so use something with more ethanol in it. Perhaps an E85 conversion would be worthwhile, if it's widely available in your area.
Plenty of folks getting gobs of power using E85 for their engines.

It’s a show car that we do enjoy driving from time to time still. So e85 is not an option.
