MUST HAVE MANUALS??

Any manuals that are must haves for a 66 mustang 200 cid restoration? I ordered a Haynes Tranny manual, but I need something that displays engine internals, as well as any other components of the car. Any suggestions?

Try the shop manuals.

Paper version.

CD/DVD

The paper one was invaluable when I had my '69.

Is the engine shop manual geared towards a straight 6 or V8? I need a manual to refresh a straight six that has torque specs and exploded diagrams. Most of the manuals I'm finding in terms of motor rebuilds are geared towards V8s.

As I recall, my '69 shop manual covered all of the possible engine and transmission options. These are the manuals that the Ford dealerships used to diagnose and repair. (Hence the Shop Manual name)

The original manual is the only one you'll ever need, Lenny's links are the ones to go get. You can even send back the Haynes manual, because it'll be junk compared to the original.

They are *awesome* manuals. Much better than the stuff today, for say my '06, although it's fine, just not as well presented, ya ask me, and the CD/DVD, if you can print it out, will be all the much better than the paper one, for helpfuless, in that you can make another copy if you grease up the first run.

/Wow... virtually the same price... woulda thought that paper one would be much more than that too. Totally worth it.

Hey, I'm going to order the shop manual. Just researching a little more to figure out if it has torque specs. Can't seem to find that info anywhere.

Torque spec are in the shop manuals.
I don't recall exactly where, but they're in there.
Something tickles at the back of my brain that they are in a chapter called Specifications. (Along with tolerances, capacities and other esoteric information).
Wish I could tell you more, but the manuals went with the car when I sold it.

The specs are in there. Specs are located at the end of each chapter. Check this out:

http://www.forelpublishing.com/demo/.../Demo10003.pdf

It is complete through the brakes section, but is a demo. It does show you the overall format.

The entire manual is laid out in this manner.

Hope that helps!

I have quite a few manuals that I have reviewed in my blog. I have given details of chapters and picture quality.
You can find it at

Hope it helps as its difficult to judge a book without seeing it.
