I am sure that the Bullitt is part of the McQueen Estate especially since Steve McQueen had the lead role in the movie otherwise there would be nothing for the family to approve.

he's saying that we'll know on october 17, 2008 for the 40th anniversary

Its okay, nothing can match the original, and nobody that actually cares and is a true Mustang guy is going to be able to afford a fastback.

Cool 08 GT390 ... ???

I agree 100%;

No sense in calling the clone a BULLITT unless it has the big block FE 390 engine. It doesn't need to be called a BULLITT to feel the true spirit of 1968 and/or the original car.

With the ADM(s) that first came out on the 08 BULLITT, you'd think Ford had done something extremely unusual (unusual at least since 1971) and actually placed a 390 CID engine in it. All you could get is 281 CID ... BUMMER.

Although I have always been a big fan of Steve McQueen, I don't need the McQueen estate "blessing" to drive a 68 390 GT clone and feel like I'm in the real thing. A big-block Mustang was always a power-ride in itself.

Cool 08 VS 68 as Iconic

I'm sure the 08/09 owners love their cars. I love my 2001 BULLITT (for what it is and for what I bought it for). The 08/09 cars do have a nice nostalgic touch (which was reflected in the ADM's). I think overall the appearance is classic enough (excluding the plain hood and non-retro interior).

From a lot of the people I know that were going to buy an 08 BULLITT when they came out, too many of these same people were too disappointed with the final edition of the 2008 to hold it anywhere close in comparison the orginal 1968 390 GT car.

For a lot of them, FORD BLEW IT.

I don't totally agree, but to be honest I was (and still am) very disappointed when I think what could've (and should've) been the 2008 BULLITT.

No doubt the 05-09 body style will remain as timeless as the 64-66 body style.

I'm still waiting for a used 2005 body at the right price so I can do with it what I want (and what I think Ford should have done for the 2008).

I don't know what's in the near future but if Brad Pitt was cast as anything related to Frank Bullitt in any kind of follow-up BULLITT movie then I will NOT be one of those wasting my money to go see it. Pitt is a talented man but just does not have the style at all. If there is a movie, I hope it is as big a success as it is hoped to be.

I have to agree. There's already too many remakes out there. I hate the idea of remaking a classic McQueen film. I always thought of Steve McQueen as Paul Newman's edgier brother. He was one of a kind. Casting a current actor in one of Steve's signature roles would be a disaster. The only time this has worked was the remake of "The Thomas Crown Affair." (Probably because McQueen was miscast in the original.) "Bullitt" is a decent movie that holds up very well. Leave it be.
